The Albanese Government is supporting multicultural media organisations to continue their vital work in sharing the voices, stories and experiences of Australia’s diverse communities.
Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Dr Anne Aly, today opened the $10 million Independent Multicultural Media – transformation and sustainability grant program, to help strengthen independent multicultural media outlets across the country.
Under the program, grants of up to $500,000 are available to help multicultural media outlets modernise and diversify.
“For many Australians, multicultural media outlets are their most trusted source of news and information,” Dr Aly said.
“This investment will help ensure everyone—regardless of their background or language—has access to reliable news and information, and feels connected to their community.
“The grants will help multicultural media organisations build their capacity to deliver high-quality content, adopt sustainable business and digital practices, and expand their reach within communities.
“I want to thank multicultural media outlets for the invaluable work they do every day to build a greater sense of belonging in our community and celebrate our diversity.”
The program is part of the Government’s $44.8 million Critical Support for Multicultural Communities package.
The package responds to recommendations from the Multicultural Framework Review, which underscored the vital role of media and communication in promoting understanding, tolerance and belonging.
Grant application close on 11 December 2025.
